Product testing in our own testing room
Quality and reliability through comprehensive testing
All häwa products are developed and constructed in accordance with current guidelines and standards. When required, our products are additionally tested by certifying organisations such as VDE or UL.
Our own infrastructure for product testing
Since 2008, häwa has operated its own infrastructure for the execution of tests according to various standards and norms. These facilities allow us to conduct comprehensive testing of our products, including empty enclosures from our stock program, as well as customer specific versions and assemblies.
Competent team and modern testing equipment
Our qualified team and our modern testing equipment ensure that we can carry out meaningful tests for both product development and quality assurance. In addition, we work closely with external testing centres, such as the UL WTDP (Witness Test Data Program).
Extensive experience and excellent results
Our many years of experience in product testing and developing customer-specific solutions is a central component of our service quality. Over the years, we have developed a depth of understanding for our customers' requirements and needs, which allows us to carry out targeted and efficient testing. Our expertise covers a wide range of testing methods and standards, enabling us to precisely meet specific requirements.
Thanks to our extensive experience and targeted approach, we achieve a high success rate in external testing and certification. This means that our products not only meet internal quality standards, but also stand up to the strict requirements of external testing bodies. Our customers benefit from this security and reliability, as they can be confident that their products meet the highest quality and safety standards.
Our services include not only conducting the tests themselves, but also providing comprehensive advice and support throughout the entire process. From the initial concept, up to development and final certification, we are on hand to help and advise our customers to ensure that all requirements are met and that the path to product approval is smooth.
Comprehensive project management as a service
häwa offers its customers a complete project management service. This includes conducting the necessary tests and providing support up to successful product approval.
Most common tests for empty enclosures
The tests carried out during product testing depend on the type of product and the individual requirements placed on it. The most common tests for empty enclosures include:
EN 62208:
- Static load
- Lifting
- Degree of protection against mechanical stress (IK rating)
- Degree of protection against dust and water penetration (IP rating)
- Continuity of the protective conductor circuit
UL50 / UL50E:
- Comparative deflection test / deflection test
- Hinge strength test
- Atomized water test
- Rain test
- Hose-down test
North American market approvals and leak tests
Product approvals for the North American market
Each economic area has its own rules, guidelines and standards for determining and verifying the safety of a product. For the North American market, häwa works with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to ensure that the strict requirements are met, including those for Canada. Our product approvals not only include the quality features of our standard products, but also numerous modifications for customer-specific products. häwa customers benefit from the comprehensive UL approvals by saving both time and money.
Detailed information on standard products and their type ratings can be found on the individual product pages.
Leak testing for international markets
The requirements for the tightness of products, such as empty enclosures, are usually based on normative framework conditions. These are intended to ensure that operating equipment is reliably protected against environmental influences. While the protection of persons is ensured by a continuous protective conductor circuit, the tightness requirements between the EU and the North American market differ. Our goal is to meet the conditions of both markets.
Our wall-mount enclosures in the 33 series, for example, carry both IP such as IP66, type ratings and type ratings such as Type 1, 12 und 4.
Stability tests
If requested, the limits of the mechanical load carrying capacity are also determined for customer-specific products. This test is carried out under static load (EN 62208). To do this, the product is constructed including the installed masses specified by the user. If the product is also to be lifted and moved using devices such as transport lugs, a test sequence is carried out in accordance with EN 62208 Lifting.
Under no circumstances may the product show cracks or permanent deformation that could affect relevant characteristics such as the IP type rating.
ESD coating
We apply conductive surface finishes to häwa products, such as enclosures, sheet metal assemblies or X-frame machine frames, to protect their sensitive electronic components during the production process. However, the application of so-called ESC paints alone is not enough.
We offer you expert advice on the design of your häwa product and guarantee a high quality of workmanship and measurement.
