A humidity controller consists of a sensor and a switch – there are mechanical and electronic humidity controllers. The type of humidity measurement differs in this respect:

- An electronic humidity controller , on the other hand, reacts to changes in the electrical resistance of a special polymer layer within the sensor.

The mechanical humidity controller is used to prevent condensation in control cabinets. The humidity level can be set to between 40 and 90% relative humidity. If this humidity level is exceeded, the connected heater is switched on. The heater increases the temperature in the control cabinet, thus preventing condensation.
