Why should you care?
The answer is simple: a temperature 10°C lower doubles the service life of electrical components in control and switch cabinets. The highest efficiency is achieved by active systems, i.e. cooling units installed in the control cabinet. Our filterless cooling units in the 3120 series, with thermostat or electronic control, are characterized by their compact design and high cooling capacity.
Versatile in application
The units are suitable for cooling enclosures and switchgears in the interior of industrial halls, server rooms or technical rooms. The cooling units are even suitable for outdoor use if they are supplemented with attachments. Examples of this are our models for a crane manufacturer or cooling units for telecommunications systems and outdoor water pump stations. The cooling or heat transfer from the inside of the enclosure to the outside is achieved with all units with active cooling (cooling unit). The air circuit that goes inwards to the enclosure or housing achieves protection category IP 54. With an enclosure cooling unit, the enclosure can also be cooled to below the ambient temperature.
How much does the ambient temperature affect the cooling capacity?
Of course, the cooling capacity depends on the ambient temperature: the cooler the ambient temperature, the higher the cooling capacity. The normal operating range is between plus 15 and plus 60 degrees Celsius. The power classes of our self-manufactured devices range from 400 to 2600 watts. But we can also achieve sizes up to 6000 watts.
One advantage of our cooling devices: the external fan only runs during cooling operation, thus avoiding noise and dirt.
The factory-set internal cabinet temperature of plus 35 degrees Celsius can be changed from the outside after removing the cover or, for devices with a display, by using the device. A connection option for door switches for devices with a cooling capacity of 800 watts or more enables external on/off switching of the device without disconnection from the mains.
Saving money by eliminating the need for additional components
A capillary tube thermostat switches the compressor and the external fan (directly in the case of small cooling units and via a contactor in the case of large ones). The switching hysteresis is around 6 Kelvin. In the case of models KF800 to KF2400, any condensation that occurs is evaporated in the external circuit. No additional component is required for this, which is a decisive advantage of our units. Should the amount of condensation be excessive, for example due to an open door or extremely high humidity, the excess water can be drained through the opening in the housing cover via a drain pipe or by connecting a hose.
The electrical connection for the KF800 to KF2400 is made via a plug-in terminal on the rear panel of the unit. The mating connector is included in the delivery. The KF400 has the connection cable routed through the rear panel.
Control cabinet cooling units - durable and robust
häwa units are extremely robust. When used in accordance with the standards, the service life is many years. Thanks to our many years of experience, there are units on the market that have only been returned to the factory for repairs after 15 years of use.
